My team can't dunk, is there a way of teaching a technique to jumping higher?
Here's a simple drill I used to do to encourage players to jump as high as possible%3A
The first thing you need to do is teach your players jumping technique. Make sure your players have a good base about shoulder width apart. Bending the knee's to a quarter squat position and using their arms to propel them into the air. When they land make sure knee's are slightly bent to absorb contact.
There are many video's on the internet showing great jumping form.
After the form is correct and players are old enough 15+ they can start doing Plyometric and strength training to build stronger and more explosive muscles.
What you say: It's so encouraging to see plans training students relevant and important skills in different sports. Coaching isn't easy but with the help of this site has become a lot easier! |
