When playing 1 2 3 5 formation, the opposition choose to play 2 fwds high, how do you defend against it...

Here are 2 simple solutions. When you play against a team playing 2 forwards it is important to not get exposed having no cover defence and to assess as soon as the game starts which of the midfield 4 attacking players tends to support the attacking 2 players. The way that my team in the past have dealt with it is for the CB's and half backs (depending on who is closest to the attackers) to mark the players in line with the ball and to try and always have 3 back when they have left two high forwards. We do not stand right next to them but rather around 5m away with the keeper in charge of communicating with the defenders to keep them in line with the ball and the players in order to cut off long passes. This has worked for us but I would mainly recommend this if your defenders and fast runners in order to get back if a pass makes it through to an attacker.

My strategy here is that I move the 'free' defender up to the midfield and guard one of the central midfielders. I'm using then 2 midfielders myself (one attacking and one defending). Good communication between 2 midfielders is necessary so that it is clear who supports the defence or attack.

if you lose the ball possession during attack then attackers force them to transfer to opposite side when they transfer then you have time to get organised your defence with positive communication if its not gona happen then take your free defender bit up to fill the gap between attackers and defenders, keep blocking the centre channel and play zonal and when you are large in number then play man to man.
